Anna Dyc graduated from Dalarna University in Falun, Sweden, where she first became involved in Irish Studies under the supervision of Dr Irene Gilsenan-Nordin and Dr Elin Holmsten. From an earlier interest in the issue of fragmented identity as manifested in Irish Literature, she developed an interest in the philosophy of Paulo Freire, as well as the ideas of Reconstructivism, which she has utilized in her interpretation of Bernard MacLaverty’s short stories and wishes to explore further.
