Maureen O’Connor lectures in English at University College Cork, Ireland. She has published widely in the area of Irish Studies and has edited and co-edited several collection, most recently a special issue of theCanadian Journal of Irish Studies, co-edited with Derek Gladwin, “Irish Studies and the Environmental Humanities” (2018). She is the author of The Female and the Species: The Animal in Irish Women’s Writing (2010) and has recently completed a literary study of the fiction of Edna O’Brien. She is currently researching the links between animal advocacy and national politics in the work of first-wave Irish feminists.
