Charles Barr taught for many years at the University of East Anglia, helping to set up one of the UK’s first academic Film Study programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels; he has since worked in St Louis, Dublin and Galway. His books include studies of Ealing Studios and of English Hitchcock, and more recently, in the OUP’s long-running VSI series, A Very Short Introduction to British Cinema.
