Lili Zách holds a PhD from the National University of Ireland, Galway (now University of Galway). Her dissertation focused on the formulation of Irish national identity and Irish perceptions of Central Europe in the twentieth century, which formed the basis of her monograph, entitled Imagining Ireland Abroad, 1904–1945: Conceiving the Nation, Identity, and Borders in Central Europe, published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2021. Besides exploring the transnational aspects of Irish history, as demonstrated by her contributions to journals including Irish Historical Studies and Nationalities Papers, her research interests also include humour studies and food history, focusing on the interconnectedness of the human past and the complexity of identities across the English-speaking world. She has been a Senior Lecturer at the Department of English Studies, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, since 2021, where she also serves as an editor of the department’s double-blind peer-reviewed journal, The AnaChronisT.
