Dr Maria O’Brien is a lecturer on the MA in Arts Management in Queen’s University Belfast with an interest in policies relating to media and creative industries. She trained as a lawyer then undertook a PhD in the School of Communications, Dublin City University on tax credits for audiovisual industries. Her monograph on Section 481 policy in Ireland will be published by Palgrave in 2024. She is a visiting lecturer in the School of Information and Communication Studies in UCD where she teaches Media Law & Policy to MA and MSC students. She is one half of the Arts Council of Ireland funded East Asia Film Festival Ireland and she is on the board of Imirt, the Irish games advocacy body.
