Simon Hewitt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Studies at Maynooth University. His research focuses on the interstices between media audiences and media industries, and examines how this gap is bridged. His current projects include an article for Convergence on video game/cinematic convergence in the late 1990s, and a chapter for an edited collection on the financial exploitation of paratextual film audience communities. He was also awarded an NUI Early Career Research Grant (2024) to organise a symposium on the “Samhain Industry” in Ireland.
