William H. Mulligan, Jr. is professor of history emeritus at Murray State University in Kentucky. In addition to US history, he taught courses on the Irish Diaspora and the history of Ireland. His current research is focused on migration by Irish copper miners to the Copper Country in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the dispersal of that community. In 2006 he delivered the Ernie O’Malley Memorial Lecture at New York University. In 2009 he was a Fulbright Scholar in history in UCC. He moderates a Facebook group for Irish Diaspora researchers to promote communication.
